Xanthan gum is a food grade, polysaccharide, all-natural thickener that's designed to maintain transparency in cosmetic product formulations. Our xanthan gum can be used in a wide range of different products as a natural thickener and is especially helpful if your formulation is not the right consistency and it's too thin. In some cases, products may become thinner when you add a fragrance oil, but you can even it out with an appropriate amount of xanthan gum so it is exactly the consistency you need. Make sure to add your xanthan gum to room temperature distilled water and mix for at least 5 minutes with a hand mixer so it can be properly blended, because it has a tendency to clump in water. Since this is a natural product, the color may vary from white to ivory, depending on the specific batch.
