Since fragrance oils contain chemicals which may affect the viscosity of your finished product, we suggest testing small batches.  Some fragrance oils may thin the bath gel, while other fragrance oils may actually thicken the gel.   In the event that your finished bath gel becomes too thin after adding fragrance to it, you may want to add some table salt to the mixture and heat.  Adding table salt (starting with a very small amount, and working your way up) to fragranced surfactants usually helps to thicken the end product.  Each fragrance differs in chemical composition, so they will each affect the end product differently.

For easy dispensing,

Essential Oils may be used in place of fragrance oils (Review IFRA sheet for any essential oil you want to use). In fact, peppermint essential oil will add a cooling effect to your bath gel, shampoo, bubble bath.

8.  Kathon CG- An antimicrobial agent used to kill bacteria, fungi, and yeast.
9.  Tetrasodium EDTA- A chelating agent that neutralizes the metal ions in hard water and allows the surfactant to do its job. The end result is soft water and squeaky clean skin.

Tested and failed!

Let me preface this by saying I love Nature's Garden - their fragrance oils, prices, shipping, selection, everything I've tried has been beyond excellent! Except this base! I tested it along with 3 other comparable shower gel bases on the market and it was the first one I ditched. No matter what type of fragrance I tried (fruity, floral, masculine, vanilla-based), after sitting a few hours, the Ritzy gel consistency was completely watery and not worth testing in the shower. I'm not even sure if a thickener would have saved it. And when the other gels stayed thick I knew this base just wasn't meant to be. 2 stars because unscented, straight out of the bottle it really is a wonderful, lathery shower gel so the gallon I bought certainly won't go to waste!

Ritzy Bath Gel

I really like this gel! The fragrances I have purchased from NG have Incorporated very well. I use fragrances at 1.5% and all so far have kept their consistency! I am going to bump it up to 2% as most of my customers like a stronger scent. I will continue to purchase Ritzy Bath Gel! And FYI, this is outstanding when used as shampoo! I have used other companies bath gels and they all were a waste of money and my customers did not like it. With the NG RITZY BATH GEL, my customers raved about it! You definitely want to add less fragrance than NG recommends because it does thin out the gel. BUT trust me, this gel is worth the experimenting!
