Please Note: Prior to making this recipe, place the wine into a pot on the stove top and boil it for 30-40 minutes stirring periodically. When this time has elapsed, weigh out and carefully pour this into ice cube freezer trays. Freeze overnight. When you are ready to soap, the frozen wine is used as half of the water portion of the water/lye solution.
Caution: There is a chance that when mixing the frozen wine and water with the lye, a volcanic effect may take place. This is why it is recommended that you mix the frozen wine/water/lye in a deep mixing bowl in the sink.
Please Note: If you are using a wine that has a high sugar content, it will speed up gel. This will cause your soap batter to bubble up and out of the mold. You will want to watch for this as well as take proper precautions at safe guarding the surface your mold is sitting on.
Step 1: Prepare Your Grape Embeds: Use a scale to weigh out the Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap Base. Then, use a microwave to melt the soap. You want to melt in 30 second intervals. Next, add 7 grams Merlot Wine Fragrance Oil, 3 grams of the Kelly Green FUN Soap Colorant, and 5 drops of the Brown Oxide FUN Soap Colorant. Pour the melted soap into the grape bunches mold. You will make 5 grape bunches. Allow them to setup before taking them out of the molds.
Step 2: Prepare your wine lye solution. First, weigh out your distilled water and frozen wine. Then, slowly add a small amount of the sodium hydroxide (lye) to the water. Stir slowly to dissolve the lye. Continue adding and stirring until you have added and mixed all of the lye with the water. Allow the temperature to drop to room temperature.
Step 3: Next, weigh out your oils and butters. Then, melt the oils. Once melted, allow them to cool to room temperature.
Step 4: Prepare the cp soap colorant. In a small bowl, mix Tomato Red FUN Soap and the Deep Purple FUN Soap Colorant and stir them together.
Step 5: When the lye solution and oils have both come to room temperature, pour the lye solution into the bowl containing the oils. Stick blend the contents of the bowl to emulsify.
Step 6: Add the colorant you prepared earlier. Once again, use your stick blender to mix the color into the batter.
Step 7: Next, add the Natures Garden Merlot Wine Fragrance oil. Use the stick blender to mix the fragrance oil into the soap batter.
Step 8: Once your batter has reached trace, pour it into a loaf mold. Then, place the bunches of grapes you prepared earlier on top of the soap.
Step 9: After about 24-48 hours you will be able to remove the soap from the mold. Once removed, cut the soap and allow it to cure.
