8 oz. Mason Jar

Total Recipe Weights:

544 grams Palm Oil

1,270 grams Coconut Oil 76

689 grams Distilled Water

294 grams Lye

288 grams Borax

525 grams Baking Soda

56 grams NG Clean Breeze Fragrance Oil

Step 1: Prep your work area and put on your safety gear.

Step 2: Prepare the Lye Water: Note:  Never add the water to the Lye.  Always add the Lye to the water.  Weigh out 689 grams Distilled Water.  Add 294 grams Lye.

Step 3:  Turn your crock pot on low.  In your crock pot, melt 544 grams of Palm Oil and 1,270 grams Coconut Oil 76.

Step 4:  Add a small amount of the lye water to the crock pot.  Stir.  Continue adding the lye water in small amounts and stirring until you have added all of the lye water.

Step 5:  Using a stick blender, blend the mixture to trace or a pudding like consistency.

Step 6: Now, cover your crock pot and leave it on a low setting for about two hours.  You will want to stir the mixture periodically.

Step 7:  You will know your soap is ready to go into the molds when it has a mashed potato consistency.  At this time place your soap into the molds.

Step 8:  Once the soap has setup, remove it from the molds and break it into pieces.
This is a four pound batch.  You will have more soap than you will need for this recipe.  However, we suggest saving the remaining soap for later batches.  This way it is readily available.

Step 9:  In a mixing bowl, weigh out and mix 288 grams of borax and 525 grams of baking soda.  Use your hands to break up any clumps.

Step 10:  In a food processor, grind 312 grams of soap, and a couple tablespoons of your baking soda and borax mixture to a powder consistency.

Step 11: Using a gallon size ziplock bag, add 56 grams of NG Clean Breeze Type Fragrance Oil, the remaining baking soda and borax mixture, and the ground soap.

Step 12:  Close the bag and shake until all the contents are fully mixed.

Step 13:  Finally, place your laundry powder in the mason jars.  Over the lid, place a round piece of cheese cloth and tie a piece of twine around it.

Step 14:  Your Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent is now ready to use!  Simply use about one tablespoon per load of laundry.

Note:  We do not recommend using powdered detergent in homes with septic systems.
